Amir Khan has been confirmed as one the celebrities heading into the Australian jungle as part of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The series will see a host of famous faces leave their plush pads and luxuries behind, and spend three weeks living in the harsh surroundings of the Australian Jungle.

Ant and Dec will return for the 17th series on Sunday, November 19 at 9pm.

But how much do you know about Amir?

ITV chiefs have reportedly wanted the Bolton boxer on the reality show for years.

And it would appear that aim has finally been realised, with a source telling The Sun: “It’s been touch and go for a while, but now that he’s in Australia they’re confident he’ll end up in the camp – even though it isn’t yet signed and sealed.

“ITV have been trying to get him to do the show for years so this is a real coup for them.

“They think he’ll make great TV.”

They added to The Sun: “They had hoped that as a newly-single man there could be a jungle romance with some of the sexy singletons there. But that’s now looking unlikely.

“Meanwhile Amir’s hoping he can use the show as a springboard to help rebuild some of the damaged public perception of him after his marriage split.”

It comes as Amir and his pregnant wife Faryal Makhdoom revealed they’re back together.

On Saturday afternoon, Olympian Amir uploaded a picture of the pair on social media.

Amir accompanied the cute snap with the caption: “With my 4 month pregnant wife, after sorting out all the issues.

“Closing the year with a happy ending.”

He ended the tweet with a prayer emoji.

Faryal has daughter Lamaisah with the Bolton boxer, and had pleaded with him not to divorce her following a very public Twitter spat.

Amir – who has family ties to Birmingham – wrote on Twitter last month: “Unfortunately it didn’t work out between me and Faryal and we are still going ahead with the divorce.

“We are in good talking terms.

“We have to think about our daughter Lamaisah who I will always be there for.

“I wish Faryal all the very best for the future.”

It comes after Faryal claimed the pair are starting anew to stop her children from growing up in a “broken home”.

“The past three months have been really tough on me and my marriage,” she wrote on Instagram in October.

“Matters haven’t been helped by the fact that my husband has been out of the ring for quite some time… it’s been very stressful for us as a couple, and a family.

“I now recognise that all this infighting between me and my in-laws has had a terrible effect on my husband and I… and for that I would like to sincerely apologise.

“My mother and father-in-law are the elders of our family and as such deserve love and respect just as much as my own parents do.

“I’ve said things in the past out of anger… I didn’t really mean and regret now.”

And she revealed her hopes to put their troubles behind them for the sake of their children.

“My daughter and unborn child do not deserve a broken home,” she said.

“That is why I have decided that it is time to put our differences behind us, and start afresh.

“All families go through hard times.

“It is unfortunate for us that our difficulties were played out so publicly.

“I also apologise for my part in that.”

The Mail revealed in September that they were trying for a reconciliation and were seeing Birmingham-based “holy man” Pir Shaami.

Friends of Khan told the Mail that he spoke to Pir Shaami repeatedly over recent months and expressed his desire to leave Faryal before taking her to Dubai on the Pir’s advice.

The boxer was said to have told him the relationship was unhealthy, but the spiritual leader asked him to be patient and work it out.

Amir previously said he was calling time on his marriage to Faryal.

Khan, who has strong family ties to the West Midlands, said on Snapchat: “So me and Faryal are not together.

“I have filed for a divorce. I hear she has just announced she is pregnant.

“She didn’t tell me.

“I had to read it on social media.

“I’m always going to be there for my kids if we’re not married.

“I don’t know if it’s true that she is pregnant or not, time will tell, but in the meantime I’m there for Lamaisah.

“If there is another kid then I am going to be there to show my support and be there for Faryal, but we both think it’s not healthy to be together.

“We are officially not together.”

But it all seems to have had a happy ending.
