Man Utd is not a club struggling financially. But that doesn’t stop them from being occasionally economical in their signings, wishing to hold out for better deals or as with recent context, choose to sign a player for free rather than pay upfront.

However, that doesn’t always seem to be the case with the Premier League giants looking to sign one of their top targets in January itself rather than wait till next season and potentially lose out on the prospect.

According to Don Balon, Jose Mourinho is willing to pay up to £22 million to Arsenal in order to secure the services of Mesut Ozil. The German is in his final year of contract which has given way to a huge amount of speculation over where his future will lie with clubs like United and Barcelona involved.

However, Mourinho seems to be the one that wants Ozil the most as the source also added that the playmaker will receive a signing-on bonus if the winter deal goes through.

This will certainly be a tempting offer for Arsenal to say no to as they might potentially lose the 29-year-old for free come summer. However, the London side could still potentially come out on top if they play the waiting game and see if other clubs interested are willing to splash a bigger amount.

As things stand, it appears that the Gunners have no intention of leaving their assist king and might even persuade the former Real Madrid man into signing a new contract.

However, if Mourinho is able to reunite with Ozil, then the results could be one to reckon with as he would be an apt infusion into the creative ploys that the side seems to be drifting on and off from.

With the window inching closer and closer, this is one saga that might go down to the wire and will certainly be a treat to follow.
