Hello my children, hope you are loving life and spreading love. First of all I want to pay my best to you and second of all I want you to know you’re important. So whats in today’s menu? Well today’s post is going to be very informative as well as least informative for you guys. What I am talking about? Well, today I am going to talk about different types of makeup products, where they all goes, when they should be applied and their benefits. So if you are a newbie to makeup this article will be your holy grail but if you are already a pro give it a read for me as well and mention anything I have left behind.
So first of all what primer is ? It is basically a base for foundation or face makeup that allows it to go on smoother and last longer. Makeup primer formulas are available in cream, gel and powder. Though you can apply moisturizer before foundation as well but it will only hydrates your skin. Moisturizer softens skin, primer prepares skin for your favorite tinted moisturizer or foundation, giving it something to hold onto so it lasts throughout the day. Primer consist of silicons like di-methicone etc which gives ultra smoothing effect so if you are someone who is struggling with acne stay away from these primers and looks for the primers consisting tea tree oil or Retinoid in them. If you want my favorite: its “bye bye pores primer by it cosmetics”. For people with dry skin go for primers which contains minerals and hydrates while those of with oily go for primers which says matte effect or photo finish written on them. While normal skin people: you guys can go for anything you want, you ‘ll top it. Now how to apply primer? You just use your finger tips to apply it before any foundation or your makeup. It can be worn alone or after your skin care i.e. cleanser >> toner >> serum >> moisturizer. (If you guys want me to do an article on basic and healthiest skin care regime, let me know in comments I’ll do that for you)
Foundation is the second step and is used to create an even, uniform colour to the complexion, to cover all our marks, and spots and to provides a healthy glow to our skin. Now honestly, there are different types of foundations like there’s bb cream and cc cream and dd cream and tinted moisturizers and god knows what which I think serves the single and same purpose i.e. mentioned above in foundations definition. But if go on to the added benefits then BB cream (Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm) is like your tinted moisturizer (i.e foundation + moisturizer) with extra favors to our skin like spf, and anti aging ingredients, and hydration, etc. While CC cream ( Color correction) does everything done by BB cream but also color correctness like it hides all kinds of redness and provides a luminous color to our skin. DD cream ( Daily Defense) on the other hand is more for skin defense and though it does everything BB and CC cream does, but it also protects our skin from environment. How to use them? Well, just layer it up after your primer and voila !! you are good to go. Dry skin should go for sheer or luminous foundations while oily skin should go for matte foundations. As far as acne prone skin is concerned look for foundations with non acne-genic and non comedo-genic properties.
Face powder is a cosmetic powder applied to the face to set a foundation after application. It can also be reapplied throughout the day to minimize shininess caused by oily skin. There is translucent sheer powder, and there is pigmented powder How to use it? Right after your foundation and concealer to set it.
Word “Conceal” gives us an idea what concealers are used for i.e. to hide away our flaws. Concealers are basically used to hide marks, dark spots, redness, and dark circles basically all our imperfections. Concealers comes in all three forms i.e. liquid, solid and dry 😀 For acne prone skin use concealer with dual properties i.e. concealers with sulphur or benzoyl peroxide and if you are looking for more natural ingredients go for concealers with tree tea oil or aloe . If you want my fav go for : “it cosmetics bye bye breakout concealer” It not only hides a break out but also heals it. For dry skin I would recommend using concealer with hydration properties while oily skin can find their comfort in matte ones.
Contour & Highlight
If we want sculpted features contour is what we look for. It goes in combination with highlighters which basically highlights our prominent features i.e. our cheek bone, center of nose, cupids above our lips while contour sculpts our face and gives definition to it. This is done for camera mostly as it gives our face a 3D effect. (If you want me to do an article on how to contour our face mention in the comment section below) Contour and highlights come in different forms from creamy to liquid and from shimmery to matte. My go to contour and highlight palettes are “ it cosmetics sculpted you palette”
It is used to redden or give color to our skin. It comes in nudes and pinks and browns; different for different skin tones. If you are a cool undertone go for pinks but if you are a yellow undertone person go for nudes. ( if you want me to do an article on how to determine skin undertone and how to choose makeup acc. to it, let me know in comment sect!)
Last step and my fav is make up setting spray. I cannot live without it, survive without it. It is basically used to give a finishing touch and helps our makeup last long i.e. all day!! It doesn’t go with skin types but is classified for the purposes. Like if you want a matte look go for sprays like nyx matte spray but if you want to look glowy and radiant go for sprays like mac ones. So, I think I just gave a basic how to and where to of beginner makeup regime. If you like it mention it in comment section. If you want me to write about mascaras and eyeliners and eye shadows basically ” eye makeup how tos and where tos ” tell me in comment section and I ll give it a hit. I hope I made few things clear. This is just a beginner guides my lovlies!! If you want to go for pro ones tell me I ll do that too. But till then XOXO
